The Assiniboine Community College Foundation raises money that goes directly to students in the form of scholarships, awards and bursaries. Each year, our students receive anywhere from $150,000 to $200,000.

There are three main types of awards:

  • Scholarships - based primarily on academics
  • Bursaries - based primarily on financial need
  • Awards - Awards usually involve multiple criteria such as academic achievement, demonstrated financial need and school or community involvement.

The criteria for scholarships often include leadership and extracurricular activities, and some may have a financial need component as well. You’ll want to read the eligibility criteria carefully for each listing to know whether you’ll be eligible.

Awards can also be categorized according to the level of study. We’ve divided them into three types of awards based on the applicant’s level of study:

  • Entrance awards - For students entering one of our programs
  • Awards for continuing students - For students who are completing the first year (or part of a year if they’ve started at a non-traditional time) and are continuing their education in a subsequent year at the college. Students continuing to post-diploma programs or second diplomas are also eligible.
  • Grad awards - For students graduating from a program

Awards are available through two opportunities:

  • Application - You must apply for these awards. Take a look at the eligibility and selection criteria for each award. If you think you meet the basic requirements, obtain the application form and follow the instructions carefully and thoroughly.
  • Nomination - You do not need to apply for these awards. Students are nominated by our staff for these awards. See the program section for the possibilities in your program.
