2012 Graduation Ceremony

Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
Keystone Centre - Brandon, Manitoba

Immediately following the ceremony, students and guests are invited to attend the graduation reception at the Keystone Centre.

ALL 2012 GRADUATES

Please RSVP using the  Graduation Registration Form (Except for Parkland and Adult Collegiate Students, see below.)

Parkland Campus Graduation Date - Friday, June 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Contact your campus to register.

ACC Adult Collegiate Graduation Date - Saturday, June 23, 2012 1:30 p.m. Contact your campus to register.

Graduation Registration Form

If you believe you will have completed the requirements to graduate from Assiniboine Community College during the 2011-2012 academic year you MUST complete the following. The address you provide in your MyACC account will be where any information is sent. Please fill out Graduation Registration Form .

If you do not provide the required information by April 30, 2012 we cannot guarantee that there will be a gown for you at the Graduation ceremony.

We ask that:

  • Practical Nursing graduates wear their nursing uniforms.
  • Culinary Arts graduates wear their chef whites
  • Police Studies graduates wear their standard uniforms

Information for Graduates & Guests

Graduation is a very special day for the students and staff of ACC. Graduation recognizes and honours graduates for their hard work and successes. We hope you are able to attend the ceremonies so that you may receive the recognition you have earned.

When you arrive at the Keystone Centre you will be greeted by hosts and hostesses assigned to assist graduates and their guests. The following is the itinerary for Thursday, June 14, 2012.

  • 10:00 am - Graduation pictures at the Keystone Centre (by appointment only - call The Family Tree)
  • 12:00 - 12:45 pm - Graduates pick up graduation gowns in Pioneer Lounge and assemble in City Square in program areas (refreshments provided)
  • 1:30 pm - Family and friends are encouraged to be seated in the main arena so that they may view the procession of graduates
  • 2:00 pm - Ceremony commences - Procession of graduates to the ceremony
  • 4:00 pm - Graduation Ceremony ends and reception begins in the Convention Hall
  • 4:30 pm - Graduation/family/escort pictures (by appointment only - call The Family Tree)

The ceremonies and graduation reception are FREE for graduates, family and friends. Graduates are encouraged to invite as many guests as they wish. If you or your guests have accessibility concerns, please call prior to June 10 to make arrangements for your requirements.

Lieutenant Governor’s Medals

This is Assiniboine's highest award for a student. Its purpose is for college staff and students to honor students who have achieved outstanding academic performance and contributed in significant ways to the college and community. Students do not apply for this award themselves. Three nominations for each student must be received. Any combination staff and students can nominate a student, however at least one nominator must be a staff member and one must be a student.

Criteria:

  • 1. Academic and technical ability
  • 2. Participation in college and/or community activities
  • 3. Good character and personality

For more information or to pick up a nomination form, see Debbie Smith in Student Services, Room 115. Deadline for nominations is May 12, 2012.

Valedictorian

It is considered to be one of the greatest honours of Graduation to be chosen to deliver the Valedictorian Address. If you would be interested in being chosen for this honour or if you would like to recommend someone to apply, please contact the Students' Association for more information. If you would like to apply, please print out and complete this form. Come to the Students' Association Office located in Room 413 or email Jaime at wainwrightj@assiniboine.net. Applications for Valedictorian are due by April 13, 2012.

O Canada Singer(s)

O Canada is perfomed during the graduation ceremony. Typically this is done by a member(s) of the graduating class. If you or anyone you know would be interested in this opportunity, please contact the Students' Association located in Room 413 or email Jaime at wainwrightj@assiniboine.net.

Graduation Portraits

Graduates will have three opportunities for professional graduation portraits to be taken at the Keystone Centre in the Pioneer Lounge on June 14, 2012. The session fee is $20.00 and includes colour proofs and CD. Grads can have family photographed at the same time for a small additional pose fee of $4.00.
