ATHLETICS & WELLNESS

At ACC, the health and well-being of our students is important to us. College life isn’t just about studying – sometimes you just gotta have some fun!

That’s why we provide our students with intramural and varsity programs, a fitness centre, a gymnasium and a well-manicured grounds to have lunch on, or to do a little reading.

Fitness Centre

It’s important to stay fit and keep active when you’re a post-secondary student. Regular exercise can help to reduce stress and keep you feeling energized.

At our Victoria Avenue East Campus we offers a fully-equipped fitness room with free weights, pacific home fitness equipment and numerous cardio machines to get your heart pumping. You can save on expensive gym memberships and take advantage of this great service offered by the Students’ Association.

There’s also lots of free gym time to kick the ball around or shoot some hoops. As well, additional fitness classes, such as yoga, are scheduled throughout the year.

The grounds at the 1st Street North Campus are ideal for jogging, hiking, or snowshoeing. On nice fall days it’s even nice to get out and toss the ball around!

Intramural Sports

The Students’ Association (SA) has an active intramural sports program at the Victoria Avenue East Campus. Volleyball and floor hockey are by far the most popular, but the SA also offers badminton, indoor soccer, ping pong and dodgeball. It really depends on what you and the rest of the student body and what your interests are. Intramurals run during lunch and offer a great way to get in shape and make new friends. Put a team together and challenge your instructors to do the same!

Public Health

The Brandon Regional Health Authority (BRHA) provides free public health services to students at our Victoria Avenue East Campus. The Student Services Centre helps to organize monthly clinics, so it’s convenient for you to access a public health practitioner. Appointments can be made at the Student Services Centre or by calling the BRHA at 204.571.8378.

Public health nurses provide the following services:

  • Counselling on health-related concerns
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Nutrition
  • Birth control and free contraceptives
